Splitting & Breaking Nails

Do you have fragile nails that tend to split and break easily? You need a regimen that provides ultra-hardening and extra support to nails.

  1. Shape Nails

    • Trim nails to desired length with a nail scissor or nail clip.
    • Choose a nail shape: square, squoval, round or pointed. Make sure that you have found a shape that works well with your life style. We recommend square nails because they are the strongest and most break resistant to breaking.
    • Smooth nail edges with a nail file or nail board. File nails in one direction from the side of each nail towards the center – this helps prevent nails from splitting. A ceramic file has ultra fine abrasive surfaces to help prevent splits and cracks.

  2. Groom & Treat Cuticles

    • Sit back and relax while soaking your fingers in warm water for about 10 minutes. This is a great time to distress from wedding plans. Pat dry.
    • Gently push back cuticles with a cotton-wrapped cuticle stick or cuticle pusher – Do Not Cut Them.
    • Apply a polishing cuticle treatment and massage. Using a natural pumice to gently exfoliate dry, flaky skin will help reveal fresh, more vibrant, healthy-looking cuticles.
    • Carefully nip away excess cuticles and hangnails.
    • Remove any trace of cuticle products from nails before applying nail treatments or nail color.

  3. Prep Nails

    • Use nail polish remover to absorb any oils on the nail surface
      • .

  4. Apply Nail Polish

    • Diamond ring, diamond strength. You can never have too many diamonds. With nails that split and break you can also never have too many Sally Hansen Diamond Strength products for 100% pure shine and superior wear.
    • Start by applying a horizontal stripe of polish over the very tip of your nail from left to right. Capping the nail will help prevent your nail color from chipping. Apply one stroke down the center of your nail; then apply to sides. Continue this on all ten fingers. Apply a second coat.

  5. Seal, Shine & Finish

    • Wait 2 minutes for your nail color to dry before finishing with a top coat to seal nails, add brilliant shine and help nail color last.
    • Reapply top coat between manicures. This will add strength and protection; keep your manicure shiny and just-applied fresh.
    • To give your hands the extra moisture they need to be soft and supple apply a hand treatment. You’ll want your hands to be silky soft while you hold your groom’s hand and says your vows.
